Manufacture Cannabis Oil in United Kingdom. The National Health Service in the United Kingdom is looking into producing its own cannabis oil, in order to progress with a clinical trial focused on using it to treat children with epilepsy.
Medical cannabis was legalised in the UK in 2018 following a hard won campaign by parents who believe that cannabis oil could prevent their children from having hundreds of potentially fatal seizures each day – as was the case for the late Charlotte Figi. Manufacture Cannabis Oil in United Kingdom
But since it was legalised more than 2 years ago, no medical cannabis NHS prescriptions have been issued to date. Instead, parents and patients have had to rely on extremely expensive private prescriptions, costing hundreds to thousands of pounds per month.
This is believed to be because NHS chiefs are critical of commercial cannabis oil manufacturers, saying that they should be running trials to demonstrate the efficacy of their products.
Although no final decisions have been made, it is for this reason that growing reports are suggesting that the NHS is now planning to manufacture its cannabis oil of its own, and suggesting that the NHS is now planning to manufacture its cannabis oil of its own, and use it themselves in a randomised clinical epilepsy trial.
This trial will assess the efficacy of cannabis-based products in order to provide sufficient formalised evidence of their medical merit.
It is hoped that the results will encourage NHS doctors to actually go ahead with issuing medical cannabis prescriptions – and in so doing help to improve and protect the lives of patients across the country.
